2008 Kook & Lunar Ox Photos

I gave up trying to get the reflection of the web on the Kook and had to show the shadow of the camera in the reflection because of my short focal length. I think the shadow adds weight and dimension to the bird but it really loses the branch detail. The Ox was pretty much point and shoot. Enjoy.

Excellent pictures. I plan to buy the Year of the Ox silver coin. That is my Birth year animal. I might get either the 2 oz coin or the 1 oz coin. I have not decided yet.

Nah... Different cameras and methods. His quality of light and shadow is far superior. His version of this Kook is remarkable. I just can't match that lighting with the lens 1.5 inches from the coin.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, I feel honored that Morgan likes my shots enough to try. Flat nailed the Kook in my opinion. There's no telling what you could come up with using a DSLR.

Anyone that hasn't been to his website to see his shots needs to.

Morgan, you are using a tripod?

In general, I do use a tripod. I used a tripod for the Kookaburra but not the Ox or the Philharmonics I shot recently. If the lighting is generous I don't need it. I shot this in a different room and I think the reflected ceiling/wall color made a big difference.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. It is a nice reward to an obscure but fun hobby.

Toms right, Morgan has some great photos at his site. The Britannia (2008) is my favorite silver and the lunar snake in gold :36_1_32v:
